Evaluation

I think that I did a god job doing my project. I read the criteria and tried my best to follow it to the letter. I also listened to the teacher, took surveys and pinions and suggestion of my colleagues

investigation

I started my investigation the very first day. I tried to find most of the newest emerging technology and wrote how it can help us as student and as school to COMMUNICATE better and to INFLUENCE OUR LIVES in the classroom,the school and outside the walls of the foundation. I also used different resources and referenced to some comments, reviews and videos that support my ideas. I also tried to write more on how the features can be modified to be appropriate for school use. I also wrote on different computer models such as Vaio pocket and how it could help us improve education at our school. I also wrote down about office online and office 2010 and what were some of the new features it provided us with along with possible advantages and disadvantages that ir has to offer us. During my research I found an iphone that is assumed to be turned into ischool. Even though it might have been a lie, but I decided to give it a shot and try my best to see how it could help us imrve our education. I also wrote about google docs and what it has to offer us and how is it superior to microsoft oiffice. I also wrote down a design brief and design specification for my product

Overall in the investigation I did well writting about new technologies and defining the problem and the relevance and what is emerging technology. I however think I couldve done beter in reaasearching a bit more on new technologies and going more indepth with the them.

Design

In design I think that I could've done better by adding a script to the designs rather than planing it out after the design. The reason was because I thought that it would be better to write the script later so I can avoid any problems while changing the design or editing it. I also could've introduced more designs, but I refleted that in my process journal and wrote why I changed my final design and what influenced my opinion. I think that I did good job evaluating my design against the design rief and design specification. I wrote also possible reasons why I chose this design and how I could improve it.

Plan

I did well in my plan. I made a grantt chart and explained the time I was needed and wrote down possible items and skills I will need to learn. I also wrote an estimation of the product dates and when each stage is completed. I answered questions related to whom is my deisgn is for and why am I reating and how it help us. I also wrote a detialed explaination of what possible items I will require and what resources I will have to adapt to. I also wrote steps that I will follow to make my design succeful and what steps do I need to finish succefully to finish the product.

Create

In create stage I finished my product according to the plan I did. I used movie maker, hyper cam and my vaio laptop to film the documentary. I recorded some evidence of my working and wrote a process journal explaining what obstacles I faced. After the crate stage was finished, I fpund a new program called sony vegas which is hundred times better than movie maker or imovie. I also used other videos and opinions and put it in my video. I used my school laptop and other three more laptops to film and edit my filming. I couldve done better using sony vegas since I could have added special effects and other features. In filming I had a lot of mistakes and so I had to cut and paste which I did successfully. I also showed the benefits of google docs through other recorded videos and creative ways of demonstrating. I think overall in the create stage I did what I was asked to in the cretieria and follow my plan through my create.

My product was evaluated in three ways. One was against the design brief and design specification. The other one is by surveying. And the third was by gathering some audience and asking them for opinions. My product shows the benefits that ti can offer us that word or ther products are not able to. Strangely enough my product influenced my life already. I am using google docs to edit my work and hand it online and save old documents and store it in different directories. It influenced the life of other students already. one is abdelrahman megahead who is using it frequently in humanities and some other lessons. Although I am planing to make this product for the whole school and I will try to talk to some teachers to use it in class. I tested my product using different methods and gathering different auidence to watch my product.

Overall I was always meeting deadlines, but at the create stage I had to stay all night to finish it and I think my best strength in this project was reflecting and planing, but my weakness was a bit doing the project and I could improve it by next year tp use the sony vegas and practicing more.

Reflection one,

Today I went over my script and did some changes. I also started looking more into moviemaker and made a trial and edited narrating/head titles,etc. I also used screen toaster to film the screen even though it was a bad quality, I think it did somewhat fine. I am currently thinking of using hypercam. I found a working camera and tested. What I am thinking of currently is to film my self and the screen. I will also use some of the methods that google docs publisher used. It might fail and end up in a disaster, yet I think it would be a good idea to take a risk and try. For today I will only play with those softwares and see which is the best.


Reflection two,

Today I went home and tried to do a test trial using moviemaker. I took some cut clips of some other documentary and merged it into one. It was very easy to use and I managed to edit a lot in it. One of the features it had is the zoom, where you don't have to zoom with your camera and make others sea sick. However, the down part is that it takes a bot of time to do all the editing and it is not very easy the first time. I also faced some technical issues, moviemaker failed to save and the data was damaged, I looked online and found a solution. However, since this is the schools laptop, I don't really want to mess around with it a lot and so I decided to do it with my personal computers.

Reflection 3,

Today I completed my training on movie maker and I have perfected all the basic features and some advanced ones. I also found a canon camera to film with. I as well managed to do some trials and look at the internet and see how to film a documentary or a film. I think today I have accomplished a new skill which is time management. I am right now on the right track, however, I think that by next week I will fall behind because if exams etc. I also changed some things in my plan since it was incorrect and few steps on my design. I also looked at some other student's designs and saw how they planned it. I also changed part in my design because it sounded a lot like a story. I deleted some parts and I think I will delete even more at the future.


Reflection 4,

I did my first trial using movie maker. It turned out good and it was not bad at all. the quality of the video was over my expectations. I basically filmed my first design since it is short and easy. While Filming I found out that deleting any film/video/music while its being used by movie maker and it is not published yet, can cause the files to get damaged and stop. To solve that, I loaded everything on my USB and my laptop. I also saw something interesting on the web. In the tutorial it mentioned something about green and blue backgrounds. It said If you want to change background, you have to have behind you either a green or blue background. I thought it was a great idea, however where am I suppose to get such a background and such a long paper. Beside I don't even have the right programs to edit it. I might as well just stick to the idea of computers behind me.

Reflection 5 I installed hyper cam and did a trial test. I recorded myself using Google docs. Unfortunately, it does not add any voice or it does not have any voice detection. Today I also realized that I need evidence which I obviously do not have any yet. I looked also some tips on cutting videos and editing them. I also realized that imovie is way better that movie maker, yet I was not able to convert it to mp4 (imovie and ipod supported) without having the evaluation sign in the middle.

Reflection 6

Today I got the camera and started filming. During the filming, I made a lot of mistakes and so I had to cut them all down. After I finished editing, I closed movie maker and started doing some other subjects. When I reopened the video, I found there was nothing and all of it was showing the X sign. I panicked right away because we were approaching the deadline and I did a massive amount of work and filming (5 mins). I looked up the error and it said that movie maker can not handle long movies, it is recommended to be less than 3 mins per clip. So this time I will create a 2 and a half min clips and label them, then I will save them multiple choices to avoid any problems.

Reflection 7

I recovered some of the films and the cowboy seen. I also started doing the project and taking some credits. I installed hyper cam and started filming. I filmed some videos about Google Docs and videos of me working in Google Docs. I used the setting of filming one rectangular area rather than the whole screen. Apparently, screen toaster does not film for long time, there is a certain length where we have to stop after. I looked at Abdel rahman group video and h

elped them in filming. I also learned some skills from them and learned some tricks while filming. I filmed a 2 minutes of their video and gave some tips about editing.

Reflection 8

I started Working on my filming. I filmed now about three quarters and I still have to add some music and other clips. I also edited some of the beginning of my video and made it shorter. I added an intro and other clips. I tried my best to improve the video's quality as much as I could.

I also added music called turning Japanese that is great for an intro. The bad side is that it has some lyrics that is horrible and so I needed to get rid of them all. After finishing the edit, I deleted the other clips and videos and opened the project. Suddenly, I found absolutely nothing, I thought carefully and I restored them. After restoring the clips and the video was back and I can play it. I also saved it on my USB and sent it to my email and saved it in two other computers just to be safe.

Reflection 9

I finished the movie and I inserted songs. I also added some slides at the end put then deleted them as soon as I heard we need it to be less than 10 minutes. I can say that I had fun while I was editing, but sometimes I was fed up with the ease of use in movie maker and the confusions that happen. I filmed first in my brother's room, then I deleted the video because of the unprofessional background and recorded behind a white wall. I also learned a lot about Google Docs and other programs while I was researching and filming. In my plan I had to skip some parts such as surveying and handing in before the time because of the problems I went through while editing. I now have a final product and I'm editing it and publishing it. I also added some cut clips in the credit and shorten some scenes as well.Today I learned How can these simple and small devices can influence and enhance or lives. I think that I will finish at time

Reflection 10

I finished my video. I also deleted some scenes and shorten the credit and some unnecessary information. I also added some pictures at the end and embed the through the flames and the fire song at the end. I also used a white board to draw the process of documents and how it is shared over the net. While editing, I though of stop shortening it and take a risk for a change. The movie has to be less than 10 minutes (mine is ), but I am thinking of making it even longer or at least up to 8 minutes. I added some titles and subtitles Here is my final video

2nd of February 2010,

I did my designs and went over them. I finalized my third design and edit it to make it as perfect as possible. I also did an evaluation about the design and wrote clearly that it might change as I go the create. I also used some of my peers opinions to edit and improve the design. I as well made some possible reasons why it can be changed.

1st of February 2010,

Today I am working on my design. I so far changed some of my design specifications and design brief. I got two designs done with a script and a summary of what will happen. I also made a table to tick every-time I meet a specification. I also used some images and emerged them together using Photoshop. I also wrote a little plot summery about the designs and explained how it connected or show E-learning and other devices/technologies/technique our school used. I always checked that I have read the criteria and followed it correctly. I asked some colleagues about my design. I made my design on three stages. One was to make the designs, two evaluate them against the design brief and design specifications. And three I chose a final product and wrote a critic and how to improve it and how it can be improved.

28th of January 2010,

This day we handed in assignment, I made some minor changes and added color and other features. Unfortunately I accidentally deleted everything by clicking the space button. I managed to recover it but I had re add the colors and do the images again. I really learned a valuable lesson, I always have to save my work on a document in case of the work being lost.

22nd of January 2010,

Today I almost finished my investigation. I now have the definition of the problem, its relevance and my solution. I also added five emerging technologies, one including iphone and ipad. I also started on my design brief and my design specification. I had troubles giving a connection to the school and the devices that can really show a worthy time spending for this device. I managed to show a an excellent argument and suggestions for iphone and google Docs. I had also some trouble when I was writing, the wiki jammed and froze suddenly which made me redo some of the work that I done. I also wrote about how these technologies can relate to 1 to 1 learning, E-learning and how it can enhance the student's life along the teacher's. I think so far I have done a good job reasoning my technologies and pointing out some strength as well as improving some weaknesses by providing some simple solutions or giving some patches/ filters etc.

13th of January 2010,

Today I explored other websites and managed to reedit my definition of emerging technology and defined the problem and added more relevance to it. We looked on how some limitations can affect the introduction of our products. The main ones were the miss use of the student and the refusal of teachers to adapt and learn things in new way. I also read an article about a website being opened by a professor in college to help the students to catch up with their assignments and hand it in on time without any papers flying around. We also looked at websites such as yahoo, MSN, google or any other source to find new devices. I found an interesting devices which is VAIO pocket laptop. I wrote on how it can help the students to improve their education and can greatly limit the amount of non educational purposes that it can be applied to other computer/laptops.

11th of January 2010,

Today we were introduced to some sites such as BBC and others that heped us to understand emerging technology and it showed us some examples of emerging technology. I dont think it was very helpful as searching online, but it did help me to understand how some products work. I also saw a video about a product called ischool. Even though it can be a lie, yet it gave me some inspiration. I new since that time that apps and devices does not have to be designed to fit in school. We have to somehow modify it or use it in another ways so it can work perfectly. Strangely enough it helps us way better than devices that are created intentionally to be used in learning. This video showed me the whole point of this assignment and it is how to be creative and introduce new ideas in new ways.

7th of January 2010,

Today we kept on investigating the problem. We looked on how it can affect us and we were asked to make a blog, diigo and a wikispaces for emerging tochnology and start investigating. We also created our folders and wrote our information on it. i know this might sound critical but, if we are in ~IT class, why do we have to print out our design stages???? Shouldn't we be more modern???. We also were required to look up emerging technologies and how it can affect your learnings. So far I have definition of the problem and some relevance explaining why it has to be solved and why it is important.

6th of January 2010,

This day we were required to investigate the problem. We looked at previous class work and read through it to understand what we required to do for this unit, term, and our school community. So far I know what is the problem and What is he relevance of the problem and how it affects us as 21st century learner.
